Project
Cyclotron
3D design · Electronics · Programming
Although I had developed a reliable version that operated without damaging itself, this particular iteration was the fastest and most impressive. In this design, the solenoid’s inductive kickback could reach tens of thousands of volts, which could weld the relay contacts if a flyback diode was not used.
Overview
As a fun learning experience, I created a device that accelerates a ball to high speeds using electromagnets powered by a rectified 120 VAC source. I implemented Hall effect sensors for precise control, simulating cyclotron-like motion.
Outcomes
The ball spins fast ! :)
